Leaving for the Night

Video Sequence
Summer 2026

This is an exploration of how light can be the main character. This is a dramatization of the daily task of closing the museum at the end of the day. A very fun, satisfying, tactile movement is toggling the second floor hallway lights off. There's nothing special about them, but seeing the hallway darken from one end to the other in steps is cinematic. I started there, and made a light narrative using the basement's dramatic lighting condition, where we have to wait for the elevator in the dark. The red glow in this deep dark space has always been haunting, and the elevator disrupts that space with its horrible sounds. We frequently get asked if there are ghosts, or if it's haunted...
